Project Overview
KathmanduSteel.com is the official corporate website developed for Kathmandu Steel, a company operating in Nepal’s steel and construction materials industry. The project was designed to establish a strong digital presence that showcases the company’s products, manufacturing capabilities, quality standards, infrastructure, and commitment to supporting Nepal’s growing construction sector. Although the current public website is undergoing redevelopment, the project was originally envisioned as a professional corporate platform that strengthens brand identity, improves customer engagement, and provides comprehensive information about the company’s products and services.
As the Lead Web Developer, DevOps Engineer, and System Administrator, I managed the complete software development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, UI/UX design, website development, server deployment, security implementation, performance optimization, and long-term technical maintenance. The objective was to build a secure, scalable, and responsive corporate website capable of serving customers, distributors, contractors, engineers, architects, and business partners across Nepal.
Unlike a simple informational website, this project focused on creating a digital platform that effectively communicates the company’s expertise in steel products while strengthening customer confidence. The website was designed to provide detailed information about the organization, manufacturing processes, product categories, quality assurance practices, completed projects, and contact channels. It also supports future enhancements such as online quotation requests, dealer management, digital catalogs, project portfolios, and customer support services.
The platform was developed using modern web technologies and follows industry best practices in responsive web design, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), accessibility, security, and performance optimization. It provides administrators with an intuitive content management system, allowing company staff to update products, news, and company information without requiring technical expertise.
This project reflects my expertise in corporate website development, WordPress engineering, Linux server administration, DevOps, responsive web technologies, and scalable digital infrastructure.
Project Background
Nepal’s construction industry has experienced significant growth over the past decade, creating increasing demand for reliable manufacturers and suppliers of steel products. Customers now expect businesses to maintain a professional online presence where they can easily access company information, product specifications, certifications, and contact details before making purchasing decisions.
Kathmandu Steel required a modern corporate website that would accurately represent the company’s capabilities while improving communication with customers and business partners. The previous online presence offered limited opportunities to showcase products, manufacturing expertise, and organizational strengths.
The project aimed to develop a professional digital platform that enhances the company’s credibility while supporting marketing, customer inquiries, and long-term business growth. The website architecture was designed to accommodate future expansion, including product catalogs, downloadable technical documents, dealer information, project showcases, and customer inquiry management.

The responsive layout guarantees a consistent browsing experience across desktops, tablets, and smartphones, making product information easily accessible regardless of device type.
Security Implementation
Security was incorporated throughout the project’s development lifecycle. HTTPS encryption using SSL/TLS certificates protects communication between visitors and the server. Administrative accounts were secured using role-based permissions and strong authentication practices to prevent unauthorized access.
Routine updates of WordPress core, plugins, and themes reduced exposure to known vulnerabilities, while automated daily backups ensured rapid recovery in the event of hardware failure or unexpected incidents. Challenges
One of the primary challenges was designing a corporate website capable of presenting complex industrial products in a simple, visually appealing, and easy-to-understand manner. Another challenge involved balancing high-quality product imagery with website performance. Large industrial photographs can significantly increase page loading times if not properly optimized. Through image compression, caching strategies, and responsive design techniques, the website achieved excellent visual presentation while maintaining fast performance.
Scalability was also an important consideration, ensuring that future product lines, downloadable catalogs, customer portals, and inquiry systems could be added without requiring major architectural modifications.
